After a cold night and a chilly morning at 10degC, as we got used to our new boating routine and cruised to Stokesby, where the children enjoyed the play equipment after which we had a pub lunch. Then on to Great Yarmouth, where we cruised under the Bure and Haven Bridges to the mouth of the harbour to experience rolling in the waves.
Back across Breydon Water and up to moor at Burgh Castle and took the walk to see the castle ruins. Some work making adjustments to the boat at the end of a good day. The Strangeways prison siege continues, with one of the prisoners being found dead.
It really was a very cold night and we got going slowly this morning, feeling our way gingerly into our morning drinks and washing routine. I got morning coffee for Diana and then mopped up the condensation. Our routine is for Di to wash, then me and finally Daniel and, as Di gets the breakfast and I mop the outside of the boat. The sun soon warmed things up, but with temperatures of less than 10degC and a cold wind from the east, it made us very cold. We offered the Butterfields a cruise to Horning, but they opted to walk instead and so we set off downstream after a quick shop in Wroxham to get some necessary supplies. I added some water-absorption agent to our starboard diesel tank today as I fear that rainwater has been entering it due to the water that puddles on top of the filler cap.

We cruised a long way to Stokesby, mooring at the public staithe and let the children play on the playground there before walking to the pub and having a nice pub lunch there. To get warm, we had to turn the heating in the family cabin as we were the only ones there. Then on to Great Yarmouth, where we cruised under the Haven Bridge and right to the mouth of the harbour to experience the sea waves rolling the boat which was quite exciting. We passed under the normal road Bure Bridges with 3ft to spare and then the Haven with six inches less with everything down.
Then back under and across Breydon Water, speeding to 8 knots at 2500 rpm and making some waves. We moored up at Burgh Castle stores and took the walk to see the castle ruins which was quite fun. This evening, I walked around on my own to do some exploring of the caravan site and facilities and then Diana and I had a drink in the pub in appreciation for the moorings. Before the Burgh Castle walk, I also cleared out the water filters as the engine temperatures were uneven and high and then tightened the joints on the new fresh-water accumulator tank. The news tonight is of the siege still going on at Strangeways prison, with one of the prisoners being found dead
