The old shed less its thatch many years later

A fine day, getting warmer all of the time, when Frank Thorpe of Coopers, the builders of Brundall, came and wanted to have a look round and will return with the owner soon to be able to quote for the work I need doing. Jack and Dolly came by to see my boat and the changes that we had made to the grounds and Jack returned later and helped me to start jacking up the shed again, with us using concrete blocks this time.

These last couple of days, I had fallen into the habit of having a fried breakfast and then a couple of pieces of Wroxham Plaice for lunch and I had just eaten my breakfast at 8.00am, when Frank Thorpe of Coopers, the builders of Brundall, came and wanted to have a look round. I hurriedly dressed and had an hour with them, describing the work that I wanted to do and they said that they would come back with Mr Cooper and be better placed to quote when they could do it and for how much. After I had got washed and dressed, I was making telephone calls when Jack and Dolly came by to see my boat and the changes that we had made to the grounds. She was sorry to hear about the shed.

I went to Wroxham for lunch and some shopping and also took the opportunity to wash my dirty clothes in the launderette. They dried easily on the washing line in the sunshine. Jack returned later in his working clothes and we started to jack the shed up again. We used a crow-bar to get it up to start with and then the cement blocks as a first level of support. I made arrangements for some more cement blocks to arrive tomorrow when the job would be resumed in earnest.  I then worked all evening on sorting out the mess in the garage, chucking out most of John Porter's junk and rearranging the rest of the things and giving the garage a good clean into the bargain. I was very late aboard the Paxton Princess, where I made myself a meal and then telephoned home. It was a fine day and getting warmer and hotter all the time.
