As it was a dull and dreary day, I tolerated being stuck at my desk for most of it. An early morning conference with family about which outboard motor we should buy for our new inflatable and then the, after backflushing the pond, the rest of the day on investment, correspondence and phone calls before chairing a campaign meeting of the Liberal Democrats in the evening.
We had a sound night's sleep after our exertions on retiring and I was the first to awake from force of habit at 7.00am. Receiving a riposte from Diana, I opted to make the morning drinks (coffee for her, tea for me) and then took a cup of tea up to Daniel in his bedroom. We chatted about 9.9HP outboard motors and decided that the choice for our new inflatable is between the Mariner and Honda. The first is the cheapest and lightest and the second quieter and more economical. We all met for breakfast at 7.30am and then I back-flushed the pond and refilled it after several days of neglect.

Some hurried work, updating my investment and financial affairs so that Di could take some transactions to do on her visit into town; and then a long slog all day mastering outstanding correspondence, returning day-time phone calls and then updating my journal for this past week's activities. Annoyingly, Di had already thrown away last weeks newspapers and so the events of that week will have to go unrecorded as I certainly was not following them very closely whilst on the boat. I talked to the North Norfolk District Council Planning Department about Heronshaw and agreed to write in with my proposals and also ordered another Zodiac inflatable seat from the Ely yacht Chandlers and arranged to go in and see their outboard engines later this week. It took me until teatime tonight to get things straight and then this evening, I hosted a meeting of the St Neots branch of the Liberal Democrats. We are a bit behind in relation to our election plans but are still in good time if things get done as we have agreed. Today, it was dull and drizzly which was just as well otherwise I would have been loath to be stuck here at my desk.
