A relaxing day catching up with chores, tending the fish, birds and plants and swimming pool. Sometime washing and polishing the Reliant and my bicycle before a fine roast beef lunch. Taking the girls in the van to the playing field and then watching TV athletics and riding my bicycle around the village later on a fine and warm night.
I was up late last night watching a film and retired doubly-happy after seeing the late-night girls. Had a lay in this morning as a result and then enjoyed a fine fried breakfast, courtesy of Diana, with some nice mushrooms as a particular highlight. Then out to tend my fish, birds and plants and to start work on the swimming pool. Daniel was away in Norfolk with Angela for the weekend, and I found the swimming pool needing a lot of attention after Daniel looking after it lately. I swept round the swimming pool and then vacuumed it thoroughly before adjusting the chemical levels and temperature.

I just had time to start washing and polishing the Reliant and my bicycle before being called in to a nice lunch of Anderson's best beef which Diana had roasted to perfection. An hour’s rest afterwards, watching Nigel Mansell have bad luck in the Belgian Grand Prix, and then back to finish rinsing off the van. Debbie arrived back after having had a nice time and I then took the girls first to Little Paxton Playing Field and then to St Neots Riverside Park where we stopped and had drinks and ice creams. The riverside park was busy today with many families relaxing, picnicking etc. It was also the afternoon for the carnival raft race; but they were all quite intrigued by my old Reliant which ran well for us in a round trip of a mile.
Home for tea and I caught up on the World Athletics Championships where our athletes had a disappointing day and we have not even a bronze medal so far with most of our gold medal hopes eliminated. Then back out to apply a layer of polish to the van and to my bike. I oiled it and then took it for a tour of the village and found the trip quite interesting. To my office and my journal this evening on what continued to be a fine and warm night.
