Working in my office on a quieter and milder day, with more wind and rain on the way, keeping an eye on Della, catching up with the gardener and working on my financial affairs; wary about the Bundesbank putting German interest rates up by half-per-cent which put pressure on Sterling and the Stock Exchange.

To the Parish Council Leisure and Amenities Committee this evening where we discussed the improvements for Paxton this year and next.

I spent most of the day, working in my office and also sitting with Della to make sure that she was all right after her plaster being removed yesterday. The gardener was here and I chatted with him for a while. I gave him a Christmas Box and agreed that today would be the last day he would work and only come back on Monday week. Much of my work was on my financial affairs and I kept a very close eye on the City as the news came through of the Bundesbank putting German interest rates up by half-per-cent which put pressure on Sterling and the Stock Exchange.

I had the Savings Certificate forms back and was busy re-investing the Childrens Trust money into this safe and sound method. The government announced its plans for the relief of mortgagees but it was really window-dressing with the Building Societies re-cycling money and the Treasury doing little to relieve the depression. This evening, I dressed up less than usual and then went along to the Parish Council Leisure and Amenities Committee where we discussed the improvements for Paxton this year and next. The weather was milder but rain and wind is evidently on the way.
