A depressing windy and showery day working at home instead of being in Norfolk, tending the pond, conservatory and fish who are becoming quite tame. Not much progress with my In-Tray before Di and I visited Dad’s grave to replace the flowers.
At the evening meeting of the HDC Southern Area Group I declined to oppose John Denny for the chair but was elected Vice-Chair despite Bill Longford’s antics.
Another day working at home when I would have much rather have been in Norfolk carrying on my plans there. First, I had to have a look at the swimming pool which had become full of debris. At least the chemical treatment had removed the cloudiness that had affected it by the time I had returned from Norfolk last weekend. This done, I was back inside tending to the conservatory plants and fish. The largest Koi now feed happily from my hand and are quite tame when they are hungry.

I embarked on quite a bit of outstanding correspondence, and both took and made several phone calls, but the day did not really flow and I felt that I was not achieving very much. I joined Diana after lunch on a trip to Dad's grave at the cemetery and we replaced the flowers. The weather is very windy, showery, and unsettled at the moment and we just about dodged the rain. More work on my "In Tray" this afternoon and then, this evening, was a meeting of the HDC Southern Area Group. With the extra members we had just got elected, there was a chance I could be elected Chairman, but Cllr John Denny was prepared to continue, and we did not oppose him. I was re-elected Vice-Chairman but only after a vote and a victory 6 to 4 (with the other nominee and myself agreeing not to vote for ourselves). This was mischief from Tory extremist Bill Longford but he had not done his arithmetic! Another good meeting even if John Denny was trying to suppress discussion a bit. Home in time to write up these last two days journal and have my bedtime drink.
