Settling up with Mr Larkin for the river work, negotiating with the Labour Party to support us in the St Neots Town Council Mayor making under the veiled threat of ceasing to give them a free run Eynesbury of we fell out over it as we still make the running on press publicity.
I had a call last night from Mr Larkin, who felt that he had finished and was going to move his work-boat off of the moorings this morning. I was tired but awoken early due to the loud cry of the visiting peacock and this started a day in which I felt groggy throughout. Out to see Mr Larkin after breakfast and I agreed that the work was satisfactory and paid him the £1500 by cheque on the spot. Then a chat with the gardener before going into work. I had tended the swimming pool yesterday and it was still clear this morning and so I could get on.

The day at my desk, shuffling papers about, undertaking correspondence and making and receiving telephone calls until I ended the day updating this journal with still a full day's work needed on my financial affairs. I managed to call several colleagues and also spoke to Mark Slater, the most senior non-Seager Labour leader and put to him the dangers of Daisy supporting the Tories instead of us on the Town Council. Both Daisy and Mark rely on our non-intervention in Eynesbury in getting them re-elected, our parties co-operated in fighting the Tories in these elections and many of those who supported Daisy would never do so again. She could be castigated in the press for this behaviour. Furthermore, having five seats each on the District in opposition, the harm of falling out would affect that Council and give the Tories a free reign. Sally saw the Tory Graham Hunt at lunchtime today, gave him our terms for co-operation and she then awaits the result of his group meeting this evening before we can act further. Meanwhile, we continue to make the running on public relations. Happy days!
