On a day that was slightly cooler but still warm with bright sunshine the calling peacock also helped me get going to have breakfast with the family before preparing my new savings plans and financial planning transactions.
After visiting Dad’s grave at Paxton cemetery and refreshing the flowers, I loaded the Range Rover and set off for Norfolk, stopping to visit Mum and hear of news of her and Freda. In Horning, I found the bungalow and boat rather dirty untidy after Daniel had visited with his friends, which took me until bedtime to clear up.
I was awake very early again this morning with the bright sunshine, the open French windows and the cock peacock all contributing to this awakening. I rolled over to see Diana, but she shot out of bed to get the morning drinks! I had a headache this morning that lasted most of the day, but I avoided taking any tablets at first. Up, showered and dressed and then down to see Diana but she was still grumpy; this time over the fact that the urinal kept flooding in the pool room when we were both using the showers up and downstairs. Breakfast with Debbie and Della, who were both in reasonably good humour for once, and then I gave Della her normal piggy-back into the lounge after which we fed the fish. I was working in my office from an early hour this morning, making up my transactions for the post office and building society.

Diana took some of them to do whilst shopping and exercising in town this morning, but I had to go out later this morning to do the rest. I managed to call National Savings and complete the rest of my new savings plans and also telephoned Mike Truswell, my stockbroker, and arranged to sell ICI and THF shares and buy Fisons and Courtaulds instead of them for the children's trusts. Once Diana was back, and I had got the Range Rover loaded up for my trip to Norfolk, Diana and I went up to the cemetery and put some new flowers on Dad's grave which was sad but nice. There are more graves appearing there and it is looking less isolated as a result. Then I set off along the A45 and made a stop at Stanton to visit Mum. I had not seen her for some time and was feeling very guilty about it and so stayed quite a while, having a couple of cups of tea and chatting to her. She seems to be managing all right but is very dependent on the people who come round and help her for friendship and money.
The news from Freda is that she seems to be managing and getting her bad leg to improve somewhat. She is trying to get a young YTS trainee to help in the shop which would allow her to get away a bit. I watched a bit of the televised cricket whilst I was there and then carried on listening to it on the car radio once I had left. It was the first one-day test match between the West Indies and England at Edgbaston which was stopped for bad light and will have to be completed tomorrow. Once in Norwich, I stopped for a snack at McDonalds drive-thru and then arrived at Heronshaw in early evening. The bungalow was quite untidy after Daniel and his friends had been using it and the boat was in a sorry and dirty state. I examined the auto-pilot installation that they had done which seemed to work but took space in the table-stowage cupboard that could prove to be a bit of a problem.
Then into the bungalow as it got dark where I washed and wiped all of the sinks and drainers and put the water filter back together after it had been used for some dirty job. The weather continued quite warm and dry today, but it was a little cooler with the breeze from the north-west and a clear sky tonight allowed the temperature to drop more than of late. the world news is still of India where the wife of assassinated Congress leader Ghandi, has declined to take over as party leader and thrown the politics of the country into even more chaos than before. To bed quite early looking forward to a rest after all of my recent lost sleep and exertions.
