A better day as Della gets out on her wheelchair, Di and I visit St Neots for a Christmas shopping trip, I get back to Council and LibDem business and we try restarting our routine.
The police returned and got Debbie to give a statement about Della's accident, but they are unlikely to pursue criminal prosecutions. Good meetings and some time with Derek Giles in the evening
I had stayed up even later than usual last night and consumed too many walnuts and too much sherry in the process. Della was slower to get to sleep than in recent days, having got rather too excited (I think) over her extra mobility as she gets used to her plaster. She also slept in so that her nurse had to get her washed and dressed after breakfast. I drove Diana to St Neots and we did a whole host of chores that had been building up including getting a dozen books to Martin McColls and hand-delivering a number of things.

I also put her favourite bag into be mended as she attended the Slimming Club for the first time since Della's accident and we met afterwards at the Brackenbury's snack bar in Barretts for morning coffee. She had not done too badly on the scales and had lots of people asking her about Della which she appreciated. I was also stopped a couple of times in St Neots as well. Time to do some Christmas Shopping in the Co-op and then for some groceries in Waitrose before returning home just in time before Michelle had to leave. Di made the lunch as I amused Della and then she took her for a "walk" in her wheelchair as the afternoon was quite mild.
I was tired and a bit disorientated after all of the recent events and had to steel myself to get some more correspondence done and then to get out for a District Council meeting this evening. I had missed other meetings this last couple of days with Diana and Debbie ill and Della at home. Around tea-time, the police returned and got Debbie to give a statement about Della's accident and, whilst they readily concede that the coach and car drivers are as much to blame as Della, under new Home Office guide-lines they are unlikely to pursue criminal prosecutions and I will have to consider our position with regard to civil action.
The meeting this evening of the HDC Southern Area was one where my group could have been on the defensive for putting several parochial matters on the agenda but I managed to steer things our way. Michael was due to speak on a Gypsy motion but gave his apologies and so I presented that on his behalf. This was just as well as Superintendant David Bingham had been invited and we covered quite a lot of good ground on the Gypsy issue with several action items agreed. After the meeting, I went along to the RAFA Club with Derek Giles and we chatted about fund-raising, the possibility of starting a Liberal Club, and about his business problems as I wanted him to be successful in order to be able to afford next October's shooting holiday.
