After a morning continuing the task of staining the rest of the facia board and discussing the roof design with the workmen, we took Daniel to the Wroxham riverside cafe where he had a scrambled egg and bacon breakfast and we had morning drinks.
Then we all spent the afternoon at the Seaside at Winterton with Daniel helping the girls to make sandcastles and bury them in the sand. The Olympics did not go well for Britain today with only one bronze medal to show for the efforts of the national athletics team.
The weather had changed overnight and became breezy with showers threatening but I was still out early and continuing the task of staining the rest of the facia board. I discussed my latest design thoughts with the two workmen when they arrived and from this decided that I would fit Superlite tiles and leave the question of lining the underside of the open boat-house roof until afterwards as the roofers were confident that the birds would not get up through the felt overlaps. Just about managed to complete this staining before Daniel arrived at 10.00am and we all went with him to Wroxham riverside cafe where he had a scrambled egg and bacon breakfast and we had morning drinks.

Up early staining facia boards and turning them in the drying sun as I left the girls much to their own devices today and they went to the playing field this evening. I did take the family out to a nice lunch at The Bridge Restaurant in Wroxham and responded to Di's request and took The Paxton Princess into Horning for a double pump-out of the holding tanks this afternoon.
Daniel is feeling a bit better after accidentally banging and cutting his head and will be coming to see us tomorrow. There were some exceptional efforts from our rowing team and sprinters in the Olympics
Despite my very late night, I was up and out working at the usual time today, leaving the girls to lay in. My task was to finish staining the facia or bargeboard, some of which had been protected on one side the day before. I also tried to keep the pile of barge-board facia turning over to let the sun dry out more of it as the pile is absolutely soaking wet in the middle. The other problem was the wet pile of tongued-and-grooved floor-boarding and I solved that problem by breaking up the pile and laying it out on the upper floor joists where it could not only dry out from above and below but also provide a better surface to walk on as well.

A day out with the family to Great Yarmouth spending the morning at the Pleasurebeach, lunch at McDonalds before the afternoon on the beach. The day started hot and then was misty and hot again with the sea breeze keeping us cool.
Back to Heronshaw to continue working and planning the building project. I watched TV highlights of the Olympic Games for rather too long before writing up my journal and getting to bed after midnight
The family were keen to have a day at the seaside and so we made an early start and parked at the car park next to Town Hall Quay in time for breakfast at 8.30am. The morning was spent seeing the sights with the girls going to Pleasurebeach and me doing some shopping. We met up for lunch at McDonalds and then went together to the beach for the afternoon, with me watching the horizon for ships and the beach for beauties with my binoculars and listening to the harbour VHF radio on my portable hand-set.
