At home on a foggy and misty day as the river flood recedes, Debbie and Daniel’s friends leave, Derek Giles pops in for a chat about his mother’s funeral and I then have a couple of sessions powering up my new Yeoman plotter and checking tracks and routes off Yarmouth.
Had the good news tonight that I have a volunteer to deliver my Diddington FOCUS in the person of Colin Humphreys, the Parish Chairman!
Tired after the late night and restlessness even after I went to bed. I was the last to dress and had to have my Sunday breakfast in my dressing gown with Debbie's guest at the table. Della becomes daily more able to get about and her leg is now quite flexible such that she can hop on it when on all fours. She was learning her "six-times table" today. Daniel made a very brief appearance with Angela and another U.E.A student from Cheshire before lunch today but they would not stay for a meal despite our offer. Debbie's friend Jo was collected later after staying the night, but I do not think that either of them had a great deal of sleep.

Derek Giles dropped in for some information and reported that his mother's funeral went well and that they had "sent her off in style". The river has stayed up over the lower lawn but is now clear of the formal garden which has only the mess to show it has been up for the first time in a couple of years. At least now Bill will believe that it does come up like that and perhaps get on with the concreting in case it comes up again! I caught up with the papers after doing my chores during what was left of the morning and then, after a nice lunch of roast lamb, I rigged up a small twelve-volt battery and started using the Yeoman Electronic Plotter which was very interesting. Treated myself to a long session of TV programmes; mostly Football and Rugby Union but also the Antiques Roadshow which interests me greatly.
This evening, I was using the Yeoman again - this time checking out my new chart of the Yarmouth Approaches and comparing the positions of the new buoys around Cockle Shoal and Holme Channel. Strange how these sandbanks can move suddenly so that the channel is now a mile further north all of a sudden! A real trap for the unwary. I was able to show Di the actual route we had followed whilst floundering off Yarmouth last summer as it had been logged by computer. Had the good news tonight that I have a volunteer to deliver my Diddington FOCUS in the person of Colin Humphreys, the Parish Chairman! It stayed foggy and then misty for much of the day and the anglers opposite could be barely seen across the river. They also had flood conditions to deal with and I doubt they caught anything.
