Another very hot and sunny day which meant that I had to get the Rolls Royce air conditioning fixed, which I did. We also collected the Range Rover which had a fuel pipe constriction fixed and turned down a deal on a newer one.
I played tennis on the games lawn with Debbie again up until dusk and, although she was playing at school today and was using her best racquet this evening, I did not go to a St Neots LibDem branch meeting this evening as I wanted them to get used to doing without me
Another very hot and sunny day which made me even more determined that ever to get the Rolls Royce air conditioning fixed. Slow to start due to aching body and limbs and the need for a hair wash but, after breakfast with the girls, I chased a vehicle air-conditioning service firm and then drove over to Lower Gravenhurst in Bedfordshire to get him to look at it. He charged me £60 for the re-charge and check but it ended up working and I was pleased at that. On to Bedford where I dropped in on the Range Rover dealer and found that they had traced the latest problem to a fuel return pipe pinched by the fuel tank and that the car was ready.

I could not take it back then but did talk to them about the specifications and costs of new vehicles as my Range Rover is getting rather long in the tooth after six years. Home with my Rolls Royce air conditioning working nicely and then went out and paid the gardener for this last two weeks and spoke to him about us going away for a few days. He is still grumpy after yesterday and thinks that I cut the games lawn too short last night but I think that he will be all right. Time to update this last few day’s journal and then made my own lunch of "Red-Eye Salmon" salad as Diana was away in Cambridge attending to her Mum. I had arranged for Norma to have the Evelyn Hospital Full Screen and today was the day that she was due to go. Diana brought back several words of thanks and appreciation but it was the least that we could do to help. Once she was back, we took the Rolls to Bedford and collected the Range Rover which had been repaired and serviced.
The salesman there had details of a second-hand car that was coming on the market after two years and only 10,000 miles but, at £25,000 with him only prepared to allow £7,000 for ours, the deal was very unattractive. We will either spend a thousand or two on our existing car so that it serves us for another few years, or try to get a much better deal elsewhere. Home to find that today's swimmers had gone so as to leave us able to enjoy our property alone for once. After tea, I cleaned the Rolls Royce inside and then out to leave it sparkling and would also have liked to give it a coat of polish, but my time ran out.
I played tennis on the games lawn with Debbie again up until dusk and, although she was playing at school today and was using her best racquet this evening, I do think that she is getting much better. She would be better still for wearing her glasses and actually being able to see the ball! I did not go to a St Neots LibDem branch meeting this evening as I wanted them to get used to doing without me and I really did not have the time anyway. No word from Norfolk, where the contractors must just about be finishing the dredging and wondering what to do about the staging rails but I could not be everywhere at once.
