Sam was ill and off his food today, being sick after probably picking up something. Some lunch and Christmas shopping and then putting Sam to bed with three blankets. A clear sky and cold evening.
Diana brought the Christmas Tree in this evening ready to be decorated but Della was back too late to make a start on it.
Sam is usually so fit, bouncy and voracious that he cuts a very sorry figure when he is quiet and sick as he was this morning. He had firstly brought up his food last night in his run and then had the runs this morning. Either he has picked up a bug from other dogs with all of his sniffing or has eaten something whilst out that disagreed with him. I took him for his morning run but he would not eat any food nor take biscuits as tit-bits.

I followed up with the issue of Debbie being bullied on the bus by Mark Klein by speaking to his father and also squared the matter of repairs to a car I had damaged.
Still delays with Nigel ordering my new computer but three sessions with Sam today taking advantage of the early afternoon sunshine to take some pictures of him and then practise dummy holding and retrieves
The girls got off to school all right this morning even if Debbie did get her shoe-cleaning black all over the hall carpet. Diana went to Bedford for her weekly shop and left me at home catching up with the chores and paperwork. I heard from Doug Brown's company, Eastern Electricity, this morning about the repairs to his car that I damaged.

I was struggling to understand weather patterns at this time as we experienced westerly gale force 8's and rain whilst conscientiously capturing the faxes that are transmitted from Northwood. I was still having trouble with Sam over his water retrieves in the cold.
Debbie came home upset from school today and so I took her out to the cinema for the evening to see "I Married an Axe Murderer" at Peterborough which we both enjoyed.
I was trying hard to understand weather patterns at this time whilst conscientiously capturing the faxes that are transmitted from Northwood. I spent some time this morning doing this and then printing out the results later. I was still having trouble with Sam over his water retrieves and do not know whether to leave off for a while or press on gradually. The problem is the low temperature of the lakes and river this time of year and him not wanting to get out of his depth.

Walking Sam on a day of high wind and heavy rainfall and suffering as a consequence. Viewing houses for acquisition and homing on one in Monarch Road. Daniel got stranded with car problems and we rescued him again.
Norwich City just missed out against Inter Milan, and I enjoyed an evening game of snooker with Nigel. The House of Commons to adopt the "compromise" solution on Sunday opening.
The fronts of a vigorous depression were racing across the country overnight and again today which gave rise to a situation of heavy rainfall and high wind. I wrapped up in my rubber waterproofs to get out with Sam first thing and kept dry but did not have a very good time with him. I tried him too hard on the water retrieves and lost a dummy and was then not vigilant enough as he came upon a covey of pheasants and flushed them before I had noticed!
