Diana and Daniel visited on a trying day that started well with some shopping in Norwich, but Sam was then misbehaving jumping up and nipping people and I ended up with a urinary infection. An evening catching up with administration.
Although it was a day to appreciate and look forward to, I found it something of a trial as several matters were quite taxing and I ended up with a urinary infection. The day started well enough as my "Teasmade" gave me a dynamic start and breakfast in bed. Sam was very good in his morning run as I practised plenty of "long drops" and "stays" which he obeyed well. Then I prepared for my trip into Norwich and took all the things that I would need. I was parked in the car park near the library by 9.45am, noting that I had three hours before the "penal" parking rates came into effect and this gave me time to go to The Outdoor Leisure Centre where I selected a couple of pairs of waterproof leggings and a matching hood for my waterproof jacket.

More wet and windy weather today flooding neighbouring gardens. Therefore working inside fitting heat sensors in the boat-shed, kitchen, bathroom; and smoke alarms in kitchen, hall and living room upstairs , Sorting and raising timber on pallets.
The government reduced interest rates by a full percentage point today, panicking about the high level of unemployment and the way the economy is stuck in recession
There was more wet and windy weather today but I still managed to give Sam some long walks and more lessons on sitting and staying at a distance. However, it was the water level that was most notable, the overnight frost freezing the invasive puddles so as to make them even more noticeable. It was the highest that I had seen it and poor Doris Vincent's garden was six inches under water all over so that she had to use boots to get out. When Jack came later, he said that it was getting close to the highest that he had seen it.

On a cold morning after a very windy night with flurries of snow around all day, I worked inside Harnser, fitting cupboard doors and ordering a telephone connection. Sometime outside, training Sam and finding that the flood level was as high as I had experienced it.
At home, an all-party Parliamentary Committee has come out in favour of subsidising the coal pits and so keeping open 21 of the 31 pits threatened. All hell has broken out in the former Yugoslavia as now the Croats resume the fighting, and the peace talks go out of the window
It took me a while to get used to the Harnser bed, having been away from it for over a week but I slept during the later portion of the night. The Teasmade dispenser worked with a little coaxing and so, with cereal already to hand, I managed to have a complete breakfast in my bed. Up, shaved and dressed but still out a little late for Sam who seems to keep time more accurately than I. It was a cold morning after a very windy night and there were flurries of snow around all day; but not so much as to settle. I find Sam is improving on the lead with occasional relapses back to pulling but I was spending most time on getting him to sit and stay at a distance to a long whistle and raised hand - the "long drop". He gets the idea gradually and will learn with time. he spoilt things with yet more jumping up at Doris who met us in the lane with genuine pleasure to have company again.

Della again joined me to walk over to the gravel pits again and saw yet more tracks of the muntjac deer before Di and I travelled separately to see Mum where I took Sam and Della to the playing field for a break to stretch their legs and she remembered sadly that this was the last place that she saw my dad.
After this, my solo journey to Norfolk and some tasks there as the wind grew again this evening, and the forecast was for return of cold weather and snow. The fighting has broken out again in the former Yugoslavia and they are a hopeless case.
A good night and then Diana dug me in the ribs as my signal that it was time to get up. By the time I was showered, shaved and dressed, Della was also up and, once I had fed Sam, she joined me to take him for a walk. We went over to the gravel pits again and saw yet more tracks of the muntjac deer that were fresh since yesterday. Home for a well-earned breakfast and then time to do the chores and to get my office cleared and cases packed for the trip to Norfolk.
