Della goes off to school successfully and we book our forthcoming holiday for California today, despite British Airways stubbornness. A shopping trip to Peterborough buying things for Sam and home to catch up on administration for Glisson Printers.
Bill Clinton has taken over from George Bush as United States President and Iraq has announced an unconditional cease-fire and hopes for a better relationship with the new man.
The normal routine this morning when Diana and I were pleased that Della went to school without too much fuss and bother. I saw the gardener for a chat and asked him to creosote the sheds as soon as possible after he had finished raking the games lawn. I shot a wood pigeon and, added to the other that I defrosted from the freezer, this made a pair for me to prepare and cook for tea tonight. Debbie and I enjoyed them greatly.

Diana and I went to Peterborough this morning and found two good pet stores from which we could buy Sam a new basket, new poop scoops and some more Repnor Puppy Gold to tide him over until we could get some in Norfolk. We heard from Mr Merriman of Kimbolton School this morning by letter and this afternoon by telephone and successfully managed to cancel Debbie's Austrian Skiing Trip. This allowed us to book the Californian holiday which will comprise equal time in San Francisco and Los Angeles. We had a real problem with British Airways over their booking conditions, refusing to buy travel insurance so that they eventually conceded the cost of this addition and will pay it themselves. I believe that we are far better off carrying our own risks rather than have the trouble of form filling, claims etc but not everyone sees things in the same way.
This evening, catching up on more administration as I type out some draft minutes for a Glisson Printers Director's Meeting for which I am still Company Secretary. It was mild today and milder still this evening. Sam had quite a good day and was no trouble. Bill Clinton has taken over from George Bush as United States President and all of the inaugural celebrations abounded. Iraq has announced an unconditional cease-fire and hopes for a better relationship with the new man.
