A time for rest and recuperation after our shooting trip to Caithness, catching up with the children and dropping Nigel’s things off to him in Hail Weston. It seems all is not well between him and Lynn there and I was quick to leave
I was rather tired and unwell this first full day back at Paxton. I had a quick look through the mail and was appalled by the extent of the work needed there and so just managed to look after the dog for his morning and evening sessions and rested in between. Debbie had her friends to see off and then, with Della, she had Amy and Katherine round to swim. A nice chicken lunch and we were hoping for Daniel to join us, but he did not arrive until early afternoon. He stayed for a little chat and just collected his washing that he had dropped off the day before in our absence.

The afternoon sitting and watching the TV to see England start their third one-day test match well against Australia, only to subsequently throw the match away in a fit of nerves. I called Nigel and then went round to see him in the evening; taking round his rifle, fishing tackle and other goods that he had left with me. Lynn was in another of her depressed and anxious moods and so I avoided the house and chatted to him over a drink in the garden. It seems that she had thrown another fit the day before as Nigel was speeding her along at over 120mph in his new Mercedes; accusing him of being mean and referring to his preference for being with me; his homosexual friend!
Nigel and I found this quite funny and, when I retold it to Diana on getting back, she thought it hilarious! It is strange how one so mild mannered and nice could get into such states even though she is recovering from a hysterectomy. Though Nigel denies it, I feel sure that it was a form of pre-menstrual tension that must get her so and that the operation was designed to end the anxiety states but if she is still getting them then.... Home soon after 9.00pm because "that David must be gone by then" rather regretting the fact that Nigel had told me about these things because now I see Lynn in a different light.
