A trip with Diana and her mother to see Hitchin and then time on my journal and grooming Sam before driving to Sawtry and having dinner of a Broubster hare with the Blooms
By prior arrangement, Diana had allocated this morning to go over to see Hitchin with her mother. They had lived in both Hitchin and Letchworth for many years until some 20 years ago and it was a bit like a trip down memory lane. I opted to join them because I was market trading in Hitchin at about the same time and then, once married to Diana and living in Shefford, we used to go into Hitchin a lot for our shopping. First, I walked Sam and accompanied the girls to the bus stop. He is now very good and can be walked to heel without a lead past other dogs, schoolchildren and bicycles though I still put his lead on for safety near a main road.

Chatted to gardener Bill and then left Sam to go off in Diana's car for our trip out. The old town had not changed too much, though most of the shops were different. The market seems still to be a good one. Once back home, we gave Di's Mum some bedding plants and then I got down to my journal again having spent some time grooming Sam to make up for leaving him. The rest of the day working away at my paperwork leaving much still to do when I left off. Away this evening to visit Steven and Mary Bloom in Sawtry. Steven had taken my Broubster hare and prepared it as the centrepiece of a fine meal. He had provided Diana with a chicken alternative, but she also ate and enjoyed the hare as he had cooked it low and long and marinated the meat in a splendid sauce. Home late after an enjoyable evening being glad that Steven could excel in something to his own satisfaction as little else is going right for him at the moment.
