Back to my mentally exhausting grinding office work with periods of relief training Sam but frustration with Daniel who was being a trial and distraction so I was pleased that I helped to get him his first job programming.
Freda telephoned today and discussed her plans for selling Redgrave Stores with which I was very pleased.
I slept very soundly last night and was pleased to be back in my own bed with proper linen rather than in a sleeping bag. Diana fared much worse as she always finds our bed uncomfortable and complained even more than usual about my snoring. A return to an early breakfast in preparation for the girls' return to school in mid-week and so I took Sam out afterwards. I had watched my dog-training video last night and tried some of the techniques out today. I made some progress, his retrieves being the strongest point, but he is more active and fidgety than his breed companions in the film.

Even so, I started him on the "wait" and "down" commands and he is getting the idea. Apart from these outings, I had a hard slog with a number of organisational and paperwork tasks in the office and it was a mentally exhausting day. The gardener had plenty of problems and wanted as much attention and Daniel was something of a trial and distraction. He had evidently not only forgotten to bring us the mail and plums when visiting us in Norfolk but also some tomatoes and runner beans that Bill had left for us too. The duck hutch parts were still full of nails after he disassembled it and he was still asleep in mid-morning with no start made on painting my river frontage piling. I lost my patience and woke him up; insisting that he do the painting today which he subsequently did.
He had also filled the garage with sawdust and left a right mess and poor Diana was incensed because he had covered her car with dust after she spent yesterday afternoon cleaning it! Contact with Nigel today and arrangements made for Daniel to take a temporary job/work experience opportunity with his company to do some programming. We hope that he will experience the real sensation of working for a living and will get out of our way to boot! Freda telephoned today and discussed her plans for selling Redgrave with which I was very pleased. To bed tired after the days' efforts and hoping that Diana would sleep more soundly for once.
