To St James Church for the Little Paxton Family Service always organised for those months having a fifth Sunday and then to welcome Jim for dog training on the Molesworth set-aside before off to Horning to join the family.

The news is still of the Prime Minister's attack on the begging homeless which has rebounded badly on him as the former minister who ended social security for 17 and 18-year-olds.

A good sleep and little lay in but an argument also with Diana over her wanting to go early to Norfolk today before I was going to be ready. In the end, I let her go off to Norfolk with the girls after the church service. It was the Little Paxton Family Service always organised for those months having a fifth Sunday and we enjoyed walking over to St James Church in the sunshine and attending it.

The hymns were a struggle with the regular organist away and half the choir including the choir leader away also. The selection of totally unfamiliar hymns did not help either! Once Diana and the girls had gone, I settled down to sorting out my office and getting things ready against my trip to Norfolk.

Then time to make a pot of tea and eat some sandwiches for lunch before Jim arrived from Norfolk for a joint training session. It might seem strange to have him coming over on the same day that I was due to go to Norfolk but firstly he wanted to see "our" stag and secondly the Molesworth set-aside was the only land we both had for hunting as his farm's crops are too well advanced. He was ever so impressed with the stag's head and so I took some photographs of it with him.

Then up to Molesworth where both dogs quartered well but Ben chased a hare which was not so good. His retrieving had improved, though Sam was much more proficient. Having Jim with me meant that he could fire some launcher dummies whilst I controlled the dog and stopped him running forward. Then back home via the Little Chef for tea and some water and obedience work in the riverside gardens where both dogs did well but Ben crunched the magpie.

Once Jim had gone, I had half an hour to get packed up and then took off to arrive at Ropes Hill Dyke at bedtime. Diana had stayed up to greet me and the Norfolk holiday had begun. The news is still of the Prime Minister's attack on the begging homeless which has rebounded badly on him as the former minister who ended social security for 17 and 18-year-olds.
