Generally an office day as the weather started frosty with cars covered in ice; then a storm came through with severe gale force winds and driving rain.

Della was back from her pantomime outing feeling better and Debbie was still going in after lunch for her next Mock GCSE.

The Tory rebels voted against and are launching their own policy document on Europe now which will only serve to isolate them even more.

The Ombudsman has slammed government civil servants alike over the management of the Child Support Agency for failing to see the forecastable problems of introducing such a new administrative system on such a scale so quickly.

The 3000-death toll has been reached in the earthquake and few more survivors are expected to be found. Japanese industry has been dislocated by their prior policy of "Just in Time" stock holding with Toyota having the close their seven factories for lack of single-sourced brake calipers etc. that used to be produced in the area.

I got out early with Sam, despite it being another late night, and walked Della to the bus stop for her first day back at school. Debbie was off this time recuperating this morning but still going in after lunch for her next Mock GCSE.

Quite amazing weather today as first it started frosty with cars covered in ice; then a storm came through with severe gale force winds and driving rain. It was calmer later in the afternoon when I could take the dog for a walk in the lull and much milder and then incessant rain fell all evening.

My day was mainly in the office where, apart from re-charging the battery packs used in last night's lamping, I also updated my journal and got the investment summaries off to my advisers at last in time for some end-of-year tax planning.

This latter task took some hours in view of the complicated schedules that needed completing and the photocopying that was needed. I had now set up my small bubble-jet printer which was quite up to the task for single sheet printing and allowed me to get the job done today.

Over £2,700 worth of cheques arrived this morning from investments so that our problem for cash in the very short term has been relieved slightly but I still have to make our money work better for us. I went back and worked out what bills I had paid for the trusts over the last year or two and ensured that we would eventually get reimbursed.

Della was back from her pantomime outing and has maintained her good health so that we only have one sick daughter now. It was very late this evening before I could get through to Wiggly.

Her pantomime is tiring but going well and she is very busy and quite the centre of things at work. We are worried about Nigel's state of preparation for the post-panto party but can do little about it because of our unavailability.
