More than 40 years, told day by day
A good obedience training session with Sam on a colder day which was then spent working at home with the girls. Daniel was at Jason’s most of the day helping him commission his speed boat.
The Queen suffered a fall from her horse after it stumbled at Sandringham yesterday and has broken her left wrist.
The normal Sunday lay-in and then out with Sam who does not recognise the Sabbath and wants walking just the same. The weather was getting colder and so I excused him any water retrieves this morning, but still put him through some special obedience work and was pleased with the result. His long-drops in particular are coming along and he executed his best point on a pheasant yet and the only real one since the grouse in Scotland.

After more overnight rain, a long walk with Sam across The Common and then to work stripping off floor tiles in the downstairs shower room.
Another abortive day trying to find an alternative supplier of Daniel's computer motherboard but success in importing my investment files so that I can process these on the portable from now on. T
his evening watching TV football highlights and a Channel 4 Programme about Fiesta's Readers Wives.
More overnight rain in case we had not had enough but at least it had stopped by the time I was ready to take Sam for a walk. Just Debbie off to school and the rest of the family slow to rise but we did manage to have breakfast before I went out. A long walk across the common and, even though the water had subsided, I found some good spots to get Sam swimming across the ditches and dykes.

The combination of unsettling telephone calls and computer supply problems spoiling my day of outings.
I took Diana and the girls off to the cinema tonight to try to get my mind off things but the girls were a hand-full and she did not enjoy the film.
Attempts to get John Major's "Back to Basics" message on the rails were thwarted again.
Another session getting Sam to enter water and retrieve dummies across ditches this morning as the floodwater subsided and things began to return to normal. The weather was brighter generally and my thoughts turned wistfully to exploits out in the countryside in time past.

Following howling winds and stormy rain overnight it had cleared up in time for my dog walk. Opting for office work rather another Earls Court boat show visit, I worked on my journal and property affairs. Daniel wants to move put and buy an oldish 150mph Rover 850i in good condition.
Tory Scandals dominate the news; over the death of the late Lady Caithness, and of Westminster Tories, being condemned by its District Auditor of corruption in the sale of council houses selectively to achieve electoral goals
We experienced howling winds and stormy rain overnight but it had cleared up by the time I had eaten breakfast and got out with the dog. I had thought of taking Diana for a second trip to the Earls Court boat show today but I decided that I had far too much work to do and would write letters of further enquiry instead. Instead, she attended her slimming club as usual to account for her Christmas lapses and I ploughed on with my journal archiving for the year of 1993 which was no small task.

I spent most of this rainy day at office preparing for a local by-election and archiving my journal, just venturing out with Sam in waterproofs as the girls go back to school.
In the Lord Justice Scott inquiry into the "Arms to Iraq" scandal, Sir Geoffrey Howe leads an attempt today to discredit the evidence.
Norwich chairman Chase eventually announces the appointment of Dixie Deehan as the new manager for Norwich City
A little late to bed last night and then a while getting warm before I could get off to sleep. I was reluctant to get up this morning but made it to breakfast with the others and enjoyed the last of my cereal. I had weighed in at only 13st 12lbs today which was the lowest for some time, but I have yet to accept the dentists advice and start using the electric toothbrush.

Better sessions with Sam today before a Cambridge visit to see Di’s parents and renew my University Library reader's ticket.
Then struggling to make progress with my micro dispute but managing to get some election canvas card printing done
I was not to have a very productive day but at least Sam performed well in his two training walks and the weather held off so that we could enjoy them together. He is now taking to the water much more readily and seems to be more attentive. I had a little time upon my return this morning as I was taking Diana, the girls and a friend to Cambridge.
