I was the one to wake as usual and satisfied myself with Wiggly before bringing her morning tea.

Showers and hair washes and then out with Sam for a long walk in a wooden and open park along the river where other locals were out with their dogs. Breakfast courtesy of the hotelier's wife, a newspaper and this journal before off to load the car and get going south on the A1.

The long journey was broken by a couple of refreshment and dog-walking stops and we got back to Eynesbury in late afternoon.

I had been listening to the live radio coverage of the Five Nations Championship rugby union international matches and England were beating France and Scotland were doing the same to Ireland and I settled down to watch the TV highlights of both matches after unloading the car.

Wiggly made a cup of tea and some fresh soup for us to have before we separated our things and re-packed our suitcases ready for me to go home.

Before all this, I had to help Wiggly get her car going as firstly her battery was flat after being left for a week with the security alarm on and then the handbrake mechanism seemed to be locked on so that the back wheels were seized up!

The drive home to Paxton to find the family fine and Della on the way out to perform her second night of the school pantomime.

A short walk and remainder of the diminishing supplies of dog food for Sam and then in for tea to successfully survive the questions of Di and Daniel before settling into the lounge with Di and Debbie to be sociable.

Di seems all right, but things are still getting her down such that she is putting on weight and worrying about the girls. She harbours a grievance about not being asked to go to Scotland, even though she could not have gone for family commitments anyway and was prickly at bedtime, not wishing to cuddle up properly.

Daniel looks heavier than he was and was rushing here, there and everywhere with his latest problem being that he had left his jacket and keys at a job in Coventry the day before! Norwich lost 2-1 away to Everton today and are in quite a slide down the Premier League table.

Great trouble unpacking the car and suitcases this evening, taking care not to have left any wrong clothes or hair strands on the items for the wash.
