Duck Hotel construction, garden buying and a barbecue as weather improves
A showery start whilst we strip the old duck house and take the old sections back to the garage. We see what additional wood we need and so off to St Neots for this and some purchases for Diana. For her a new garden hose and through feed reel, the lawnmower off to repair in Great Paxton and a new electric hedge trimmer ordered. Then the rest of the day building “The Duck Hotel”, a splendid creation completed by duck with floor-boarding.
After a tea-time barbecue with John and Brenda Tomblin and children David and Rebecca they help us move the House into position and get the ducks inside. To the armchair for the television news at 10.00pm and to bed very tired at 11.00pm. An argument between MP’s about acceptable salary increases; much coverage about Lady Diana’s Birthday as she returns from Canada to her Prince’s first birthday; and the Ladies and Mixed finals at Wimbledon. The Lions have lost three matches and the series on their tour. The weather had improved as the day progressed.
