Debbie was a good companion; joining me in bed to have her nails cut, opening her Abbey National share account for £10 with a Mickey Mouse passbook cover and to do some shopping in St Neots as the Morris dancers took part in the folk festival. Liverpool win the cup and league double and the EEC bans food imports from Eastern Europe
A better night, until woken from a deep sleep by the morning drinks. Debbie came in to my bed to sit with me and I cut her nails for the first time in a while. Showered and shaved whilst listening to the radio farming programme – a tough time for the beef industry, with low price-sensitive consumer demand and a desire for methods that produce more attractive and leaner meat.
A breakfast of boiled duck egg and then dressed and to my office for a couple of hours work. I manage to update our investment summaries ready for computer input and then sort out a desk full of unopened mail to find the urgent items. Della came in for her coffee break, which held me up a little. We strive to get out quickly at 11.30am and I feed the birds and get through the locking up and alarm routine and we set off for St Neots. To the Abbey National, where I open a share account for Debbie in the sum of £10 and she is delighted with the Micky Mouse cover, book and badges. Then to the Market Square, where several troops of Morris dancers were performing in turn, at this start of the Folk Festival. I went across to Fishers and bought some odds and ends with Debbie in tow and then Daniel and Di came, so we drove off to the Happy Eater for lunch. Della really enjoyed the Giraffe ride and the slide after and did not want to leave. Home, and I spend the afternoon watching the televised Cup Final and the evening sorting my workshops out further and getting the cover off of The Lady and folded up. A cooler evening and the rain spots again as I feed the birds and come in. News this evening featured the Cup Final victory for Liverpool and, with it, the Cup and League double for the first time in 15 years.
