I was feeling shivery and heavily congested with cold after a poor night and my Ohgon was even worse; exuding a septic puss from the swollen cheek and eye and more treatment is needed. I still attended District Council meeting but stopped off on the way and saw Mr Forscutt and the Norris Museum about photographs. This evening, I finished amending, pasting up and reprinting the Mill chapter and so can now start on the Grove Farm chapter tomorrow. An army minibus driver was shot dead in Londonderry. A freighter sank in the mid-Atlantic with the loss of 17 crew today being out of the reach of rescue helicopters. The stock exchange fell well back.
I had a poor night, feeling chilly and congested at the same time and was then tired this morning, feeling shivery and heavy with cold. I therefore decided just to dress for breakfast without shaving. I checked the fish and the Ohgon seems to be exuding a septic puss from the swollen cheek and eye. The fish doctor telephoned and called round this morning and was not sure what to do as he had not come across the condition before. In the end, we cleaned the water and added today the salt solution and tomorrow he will return, and we might give it an injection and get the Brampton AWA Fish Diseases Centre to analyse a sample of the puss. I could not finish my Mill chapter but got the draft printed out this morning. After lunch, I showered, shaved and changed and went to the District Council meeting but stopped off on the way and saw Mr Forscutt and the Norris Museum about photographs. The District Council meeting was workmanlike enough, but I was not prepared enough to make it very effective. This evening, I finished amending, pasting up and reprinting the Mill chapter and so can now start on the Grove Farm chapter tomorrow.

The news today is of repeat of the death threat by Ayatollah Khomeini towards the writer of ‘The Satanic Verses’ and Iran is becoming increasingly isolated. An army minibus driver was shot dead in Londonderry today and, in the aftermath of the bomb attack on the Gloucestershire barracks, it was revealed today that there was a 40 minute delay before the army called the police, which was to be regretted. A freighter sank in the mid-Atlantic with the loss of 17 crew today as the location of the stricken ship was out of the reach of rescue helicopters. The stock exchange fell well back and the gloss may have gone off of the market.
