Resuming work on my ‘Farms’ chapter of my book on a bright but very cold morning, collecting Debbie and taking her horse-riding, where she did well, and then attending a fairly poorly-attended evening Parish Council Amenities meeting. An ‘animal rights’ bomb is set off by extremists and two constituencies went to the polls today
I slept well enough last night and then tried to resume work on my history book after breakfast. A succession of interruptions diverted me, including a visit from a travelling picture salesman but at least I started a new chapter on the farms of Little Paxton into which I’m not only putting the Grove section but all of the other farms as well, which is a more sensible way of doing it. After lunch, another couple of hours working until it was time to go and get Debbie for her horse riding. She rode well enough and becomes weekly more confident and able now that she is getting more practice and lessons.

It was a group lesson tonight and she did well enough. This evening, it was a Parish Council Amenities meeting which was fairly poorly attended. At least I obtained agreement on circulating an agenda prior to future meetings to avoid a repetition of what happened to me last week. I got home quite late and then stayed up later still watching the TV instead of finishing my journal early and getting to bed. The news today was of an ‘animal rights’ bomb at a University which is a new and appalling tactic for these extremists. There were two parliamentary by-elections polling today but there will be no result until tomorrow for either of them. The opinion polls show Labour closing country-wide and the SDP gaining at the SLD’s expense today was bright but very cold.
