After sending off and delivering my press releases, and taking Debbie over to the stables, Daniel Diana and I bought a nice Escort 1100 car for Daniel in St Neots. Percy and Michael came over afterwards and we resumed work on the election campaign before I attended a very disorganised Personnel Committee meeting of the council this evening. Up late, working on my proposed changes to Standing Orders
I spent some time today on press releases for our election campaign. I worked out the changes and ended up by posting these for some news-papers and delivering others by hand. I started the day by taking Debbie over to the stables. Then Daniel, me and Diana went to St Neots to look at buying a car for Daniel. We found a nice Escort 1100 that had been owned by a doctor from being new in 1982 decided on that. This afternoon, I ended up with Percy and Michael at my house having realised that we had to get the election campaign off to a reasonable start. We agreed to get our press releases out come what may this week and therefore acted on the decision immediately.

This evening, I had to go to a meeting of the Personnel Committee where the main topic of the agenda was the new terms and conditions for staff and the results of the Imbucon survey into staff conditions and pay. The committee were all at sea on the recommendations were floundering about to the point that they did not know was they were coming or going. The so-called chairman (a lady) was hopeless. The Tory majority group wanted to resist the higher costs of the proposals, but they did not see a way to do it. I came home quite late and then had to write my proposals on the Council’s Standing Orders which took until after 1am. To bed very tired.
