After getting up early on a very warm, humid and sunny day, I cast off from the Stracey Arms early on the ebb and then arrived in Yarmouth at the Town Hall Quay at 8.30am. I mopped the decks and we had breakfast on the way so that we could make an early start and the girls thus enjoyed the pier Play-deck, Joyland, the pony-and-trap for a trip along the front and Pleasurebeach.

Some crab fishing with Della, a ‘Carry On’ video to watch and then for once, the Iraq crisis plays second fiddle to the main news which is the expected release of the Irish hostage in the Lebanon, Mr Brendan Keenan. Iraqi tanks and troops surround embassies in Kuwait.

I was first awake on at 6.00am and decided to get myself and the family up, starting with Diana and her morning coffee. Debbie and Helen were already awake and I gave them orange juice which was all right. We cast off from the Stracey Arms early on the ebb and then arrived in Yarmouth at the Town Hall Quay at 8.30am. We had breakfast on the way on a warm and humid morning and I mopped the decks whilst under-way with Debbie helping me on the helm to save time. We were therefore able to make an early start for our day in Yarmouth. The girls thus enjoyed the pier Play-deck, Joyland, the pony-and-trap for a trip along the front and Pleasurebeach.

This was all a bit much for Debbie after her disturbed night and she was upset that they could not have a go on all of the rides. I had already spent £20 on rides and I was not about to spend any more, particularly as I did not want to leave the boat unattended any more with the tide turning. I left Diana to take them for pony rides and went back to the boat to watch some test cricket and to read the paper. It was very warm and sunny today and this was a nice way to keep cool, but the trouble was that India had gone in first and built up an impressive score of 600-odd declared. Later on, Diana and I went shopping whilst the girls really enjoyed watching a "Carry-On" film on our video player. Della also did some crab fishing with me and we caught a couple before the tidal flow became too much. For once, the Iraq crisis plays second fiddle to the main news which is the expected release of the Irish hostage in the Lebanon, Mr Brendan Keenan.
