I tried to liven up a rather dull Environmental Services Committee of HDC at the old Pathfinder House in Huntingdon in the evening

Having left the dressing off my foot to help it heal, I then had an unexpected visitor who carried me off to Colne, near Earith, to look at a site for possible planning but called into St Ives for Imray charts to make good use of the time. Daniel needed another two hours practise before his driving test in the morning and some other chores before I tried to liven up a rather dull Environmental Services Committee of HDC in Huntingdon in the evening.

I enjoyed a good night's sleep and relaxing start to the day for the first time for a few days. I decided to leave the dressing off my foot for a few hours and spent this morning working in my office on paperwork and my journal. Took a late lunch which I had to make myself as Diana had gone to Cambridge and then I ate a ham salad and organically grown pear for dessert which was a healthy meal at least. I worked on this afternoon, until brought up short at 2.00pm by a visitor who I had forgotten was coming.

It was Jean Wilmer from Staughton, wanting to take me off to Colne, near Earith, to see some land she wants planning permission for to develop. I quickly changed and then also got her to drop into St Ives on the way to get some charts from Imray Lorrie and Wilson (the cartographers) and so my time was not wasted. I patiently listened to everything that Jean had to say, but she is fighting against the tide of planning policy and I hold out little hope. I am not on the planning committee, nor represent that area and so I have no say in the matter and can only advise her. In any case, I would not want to influence the case against the village's wishes and these she will have to change.

Got back in late afternoon, having been out for two hours and then I had a nice cup of tea and sat down to catch up with the rest of the last few days' journal. Di was pleased to see me as she is rushing around again this evening and needed me here whilst Daniel had his two-hour driving lesson before tomorrow morning's test. I am also trying to arrange for Heronshaw's roof to have some repairs and telephoned a thatcher today with this in mind. Also arranged to get some back copies of "Motorboats Monthly" which has lots of interesting information on cruising which will come in handy. Di was late back to make my tea and it was a rush to get to this evening's meeting of the Environmental Services Committee in Huntingdon, but I made it. There was not a great deal to discuss but I did my best to make it interesting.
