After completing the deal for Di’s new car as she took Debbie horse-riding, I winterised the swimming pool, delivered Focus newsletter to outlying villages and then drove down to Swiss Cottage for the start of our London weekend
I stayed in bed a while this morning and was then late to breakfast. There was no hurry, however, as Debbie was on holiday from school from today and we all had a meal together before Di took her horse-riding. I had a busy session in my office, sorting out my correspondence into envelopes and getting everything off to the post. I also made some telephone calls to organise Di's new car. In the end, I opted for an outright purchase with 50% down and the balance over a year with no interest being charged which I felt was a good deal. I also called Jim Lomax, the HDC Labour leader, and arranged to see him in a week or so's time to talk about the continuation of political co-operation next May to defeat the Tories.

After analysing the ONSITE situation and composing a consultancy report I then completely turned around the policy of the Little Paxton Parish Council Meeting by encouraging them to retain and increase borrowings at favourable rates to grow community facilities. This as the LibDems win a great victory in the Eastbourne by-election
I felt much better this morning after a lay in and my headache had got better. It had poured with rain last night and I was pleased that I had worked on the garden and that the decorators had finished the house before the dry spell ended. I was a bit slow to get started and then, after breakfast, I settled into my office to do some paperwork and make some telephone calls. Most of the morning was dedicated to writing up a consultancy report and covering letter and invoice to ONSITE giving vent to the many aspects that had been crossing my mind. This done, and the results checked over lunch, I got Diana to hand-deliver the result and then returned to my journal for a couple of hours before getting back to administration. I also prepared for this evening's Parish Council meeting where the main matter was the forthcoming year's budget for leisure and amenities.

The family had forgotten cards for Di's 42nd birthday but I made amends by ordering her a new Ford Fiesta car later! I was preoccupied with the shortcomings of the On-Site Training situation; Debbie was in a muddle over losing her flute and my headache got steadily worse after the day spent sweeping up leaves and distributing Focus leaflets before the evening at Southoe Parish meeting.
I had a poor night. My mind was on the shortcomings of the ONSITE situation and the many aspects that have come to mind since the meeting took place that needed to be taken up with the management. I have also been waking up early and feeling tired and today started with a headache that continued to grow as the day went on. Poor Diana awoke to a birthday with no cards from me or the children as we had all remembered too late. After the normal chores, I also had to sweep the swimming pool area of leaves and telephone my deliverers about the latest FOCUS and then had a phone call from Debbie that she had left her flute at the bus stop and needed it for a lunch-time lesson! I drove over there, but it was gone and then we ascertained by telephone that a lady had found it and taken it to work in Huntingdon for safe-keeping. Poor Diana had to go and get it and drive over to the school!

Time working in my office, now it was free from contractors and my chores on a fine but windy day. Before lunch with Di at the Bridge Hotel as we looked at new cars for her in St Neots.
Back and changed in time for my ONSITE Training Board Meeting which dragged on and then to Debbie's first parents' evening at Kimbolton Main School which was good, but she took the resulting suggestions to heart.
Another busy day but at least I had my office to myself. Up early again and finished my journal for yesterday before breakfast with the girls. Little Della was late up as her clock stopped last night and she did not go to sleep until late as a result: At least that was her excuse! I had a morning in the office doing a few things and then went into St Neots with Diana to have lunch at the Bridge Hotel and on to Hunts Motors to look at motor cars. Di wants a new Ford Fiesta for her birthday. Back and changed in time for my ONSITE Training Board Meeting.
