A lovely traditional Christmas Day at home with all three ‘children’ awake and opening their presents happily. Mum called and reported that the sun came out at 11am yesterday at the time I was laying my wreath on Dad’s grave.
We had sat up until midnight waiting for the girls to fall sound asleep and then Diana brought their presents down and packed them into their "stockings". These were actually pillow cases and, even then, she had to pile the larger ones on top as there were so many. This morning, Debbie was the first to wake and then Di woke the rest of us at 7.15am and, after we had groggily come to, we all sat in the lounge as the children opened their presents.

What a host of them there were and all three of them (for Daniel also had his pillow case out - big kid that he is) were happy with what they had got. The rule is that they can open their "Father Christmas" toys before breakfast; then play with them all morning, and finally open their family presents after lunch to break things up. The normal mixture of ecstasy and bad behaviour but the house was large enough for them to play together and apart as the fancy took them. Mum called this morning and was grateful for her Christmas cheque and reported that the sun came out at 11.00am in Redgrave at the time I laid the wreath yesterday. Our indulgence and leisure continued until the end of the day with some reading but most time spent watching TV in front of a warm fire.
