A day working day at home after yesterday’s party with plenty of visitors for the children using the games lawn for tennis and back to the sports centre for more swimming such that there were many mouths to eat up Debbie’s birthday food.
Then to edit my Focus copy, which had been too focussed on Derek and Ross, to feature our other councillors as well. The national news is of the Tories falling still further behind in the opinion polls so everybody are now discussing the possibility of the Conservative government losing the next election.
We had something of a rest after yesterday's exertions, but Debbie came to breakfast with her guest and we were also joined by Daniel and Angela. Angela carried on doing certain of her revision, but they ended up with Daniel's friends - Gary, Steve and Jason - round to watch a video film on the TV. This morning, I played with the girls on the tennis lawn and then left them to it when it started to rain. They then went back off to the sports centre to join the family skating session until later. Derek Giles was back round this afternoon with his latest FOCUS changes. The problem was that the Eaton Socon copy was too polarised between Derek and Ross with the others left on the side-lines.

The day of Debbie's Birthday Party after a morning of working on the Eaton’s copy for FOCUS with Derek and Anne-Marie as Daniel and Angela also visited. The swimming pool was ramped up to 83degF, we set up the new tennis net on the lawn and then hosted around 45 guests for Debbie roller skating at the Ernulf Centre before us having booked the indoor swimming pool for three hours. Then a birthday tea for Debbie with a huge and pretty Birthday Cake after which she took time opening the 45 presents!
Today was dominated by the arrangements for Debbie's Birthday party but it started in the normal way with me getting up before breakfast and tending the fish, doves and pool in the absence of Bill at the weekend. I took time out to give the swimming pool a good vacuum clean as it was due to be in some use this weekend. Daniel and Angela arrived yesterday and were threatening to use it with friends this weekend and Debbie was also due to have two separate house-guests. I'd got the pool up to 83degF which I thought was a bit excessive, but the family were pleased. The main problem was the continuous rain of May blossom from the hawthorn tree overhanging it, but this is a short-term factor which should soon be at an end. It has been a good year for this blossom, however, but the weather continues chilly and dry with this persistent north wind that has dominated things for the last couple of months.
