After an unsettled night ruing the forthcoming closure of St Neots Post Office, a day at home catching up and editing our next election leaflet before an evening HDC Southern Area meeting. The government announced their very confusing half-baked plans to end the Poll Tax which will solve nothing
I did not sleep very well last night thinking about the injustice and nonsense involved in the closure of St Neots Post office - a proposal born from this government's ideologies about privatising everything in sight. Slow to get going this morning as a result and then caught up on these last few days' papers, my mail tray and journal. Entered all of the HDC meeting dates in my diary for the next year and gave some thought to how I would organise the HDC committee places if we won an extra two council seats.

Debbie had her friend Helen Cranston staying with her last night and so they both joined us at the table for meals today. My journal this afternoon and then I could resume work on my second election leaflet. I typed up a summary of ward comments from both Eaton Socon and Priory Park just in time to take these with me to distribute after this evening's meeting. It was the Southern Area Consultative Committee of the District Council but there was not much on the Agenda and the meeting was soon over. I had a rather critical letter published attacking the St Neots Town Mayor and she was there this evening and was rather frosty towards me as a result! Today was the Spring Equinox and the days are now as long as the nights. The government announced their plans to end the Poll Tax today but their proposal - for a mixed property and occupancy tax - was surprisingly lacking in detail and not at all convincing. This Poll Tax saga is going to run and run.
