After some time working at home studying the aftermath of the budget after a night disturbed by drunken youths, I went out and did the chores before breakfast and then made an impression on the job of writing the second election FOCUS.
In the evening I got ready for Derek's Eaton Candidates meeting and found all candidates 20mins late and the Agent completely drunk! I had a go at Derek afterwards as I do not want that sort of a meeting again.
My night's sleep was somewhat disturbed by a few drunken youths wandering around. They seemed quite harmless, but I had to get up to see anyway. I rose early nevertheless and spent a little time before breakfast in the conservatory feeding the fish, reading the newspapers, and watering my plants because the gardener did not come at the weekend. The papers were still dismembering the budget, but the opinions were not very good of it and the Tories slip in the opinion polls; allowing Labour to take a three-point lead. A slightly chilly night and start to the day but the sun soon came out and cheered everything up. I went out and did the chores before breakfast, then insisted that Daniel joined the rest of us for this meal. There were six of us including Helen and Daniel.

After this, I caught up on my recent journal and then settled down to make an impression on the job of writing this second election FOCUS. I worked all afternoon on this project and, by teatime, had finished the inner policy section and had drafted an attempt at the outer local section for Priory Ward. Diana was late back for tea, having spent the day ferrying the girls around their activities and friends and so it was rather late that I got ready for Derek's Eaton Candidates meeting and set off to arrive only just in time. The meeting just about achieved its aims although three of the Eaton Candidates were not there 20 minutes after it was supposed to start and then one did not turn up at all. Also the agent turned up completely drunk after an afternoon's drinking which set the tone! I had a go at Derek afterwards as I do not want that sort of a meeting again.
Home at about 9.00pm to find that there was still a strong smell of gas coming from the gas meter cupboard outside my office even though the fitter had been here for the third time today. Why are people so disorganised?
