Completing the administration for retrieving my Reliant CJW 986 registration number

Yet another sunny day to firstly share the gardening chores with Bill, then complete the administration for retrieving my Reliant’s CJW 986 registration number and then visiting Mum in Stanton and Freda in Redgrave.

They seem to be reconciled to doing the alterations to accommodate Mum but are taking far too long in the process for our liking and expect me to pay. Turnover has increased from £1500 per week to £3700 now, which is good, but they are paying it all on wages!

Yet another sunny day started with the need to get Debbie off to school and for me to get some chores done. Bill was around this morning as he was not sure that we had arrived back, and we shared the morning chores before he left. Once he had gone, I was moved to do some more gardening and so dead-headed all the flowers and rose bushes before sweeping up the gall-wasp-deformed acorns from the riverside lawn where they had accumulated. I was not very pleased that these jobs had not been done during the week. Then I had a rush to respond to the acceptance of my offer for the re-purchase of the Reliant’ s original registration number CJW 986 as I had to send off by post all of the necessary documents so as they could arrive in Edinburgh on Monday.

I ended up at St Neots Post Office getting them sent by Special Delivery. Home to lunch and then a short relaxation before setting off for Stanton to see Mum with the family. We got out Dad's car from the garage and loaded Mum and all her aids and wheelchairs aboard and then I drove her over to Freda's in that car whilst Di followed behind in the Range Rover. We got her settled in and chatted to Freda and Alf for a while. They seem to be reconciled to doing the alterations to accommodate Mum but are taking far too long in the process for our liking.

They also seem to be expecting us to pay for a conservatory and new roof as well as the costs of bathroom alterations, but we await estimates accordingly. The shop seems to be enjoying further increased turnover - up from £1,500 per week when they took over to about £3,700 now, but they are paying all the post office salary to man the post office and a wage to a trainee assistant at more than the going rate. The only problem is that they still have no idea about the profitability of the business and make no interest payments to me on the large capital I have lent them. I wish they had more business sense, but we will be pleased enough if they take in Mum.

They all seem fine, but Freda is carrying even more weight and we have to worry about her leg. We left in early evening and had a tea of sandwiches once we got home. Then Di and I watched our favourite TV programme - The House of Elliott - before going to bed, although we did have to bully the girls to leave us alone as we watched. They seem to have got into the habit of keep coming downstairs whilst we were away. Then I stayed up to watch The Last Night of the Proms as Diana went to bed. I was trying to start planning these last days journal entries but was not getting anywhere.
