A recovery day at home, resolving to resume my diet after being some 10/11lbs heavier than I was earlier this year. I still washed and leathered Daniel’s car ready to be viewed by a potential purchaser and then did the same for my Rolls Royce and watched some television later and sat with Della until she slept after she was worried about going back to school. The LibDems surged in the opinion polls to 16% after our conference.
I slept very well for the second night running as I caught up on the last few days. After showering and getting dressed, I started tending to the plants and fish and completely swept out the conservatory before doing the watering. Soon our traditional fried breakfast to add to those we had eaten during the week and, although Diana is no match for the hotel chefs, I expressed my appreciation. I now weigh in at 14st 8lbs which is some 10/11lbs heavier than I was earlier this year and so I am back on a diet.

I carried on working after my meal, tending to the swimming pool by sweeping around it and vacuuming the bottom free of debris. Then, upon getting a telephone caller interested in buying Daniel's car, I washed and leathered it so as to make it more attractive. Then I set to work on the Rolls Royce, sponging it off before rinsing and leathering it clean so that it ended up looking very pretty and smart after its recent use. All this took me up until lunchtime which was a typical meal of fried chicken. Then I relaxed in the lounge for an hour or two, quite tired, until the potential car buyer called, and I showed him the car. He had a good look and then said he had others to see and would return next weekend if he wanted to take things further.
More rare leisure for me until tea-time as I watched the end of the last cricket match of the season which took us up to tea in the lounge and the Simpsons cartoon programme on the TV. This evening, I made several telephone calls to political colleagues about the events of last week and the arrangements for next before ending up with the task of updating this last week's journal. Della was starting to get nervous about tomorrows return to school and so I worked on later than I would have liked and kept popping in to see her. She was asleep by around 11.30pm and so I called it a day and had my bedtime drink before turning in.
The Tories have now got a 4/5% lead over Labour in the opinion polls as the Liberal Democrats surge forward to the 16/17% mark at Labour's expense. However 49% of those questioned say that they would vote for the LibDems if they had a chance of winning which could still cost the Tories a lot of seats where the LibDems are second. The week of riots in the North-East comes to an end and the other press stories were of more child deprivation in Albania (with a television appeal launched) and the surge of my party after a good conference in Bournemouth.
