Della gradually gets used to going to Kimbolton Preparatory school without worry

As Della gradually get used to going to school without worry, I go to St Neots for a doctor’s test and screening and find that I had gained weight from 87 kilos to 92 kilos and, more importantly, my overall cholesterol level from 6.6 to 7.8 mmol/l which is way outside the preferred range of 3.6-6.8 with 5.2 being the level advisable. Then up quite late, planning election resources in the evening

The girls were reasonably happy in going to school today and Della only managed one shiver and whimper before setting off. Each Monday is better for our little girl but she is still a bit anxious and worried about wetting herself. Di is as anxious as she because having lost her last little one to school which makes the house quiet. After my normal chores, it was time for breakfast and then, after some little time in my office, time to go into St Neots for our Doctor's test.

We had agreed to take place in an experimental screening and investigation into the high incidence of heart attacks as they are affected by levels of Cholesterol. I took in my results from the full screening last year at the Eveleyn Private Hospital in Cambridge from which I recalled that my cholesterol level was too high then. I had gained weight from 87 kilos to 92 kilos since then but, worst to come, I had increased my overall cholesterol level from 6.6 to 7.8 mmol/l which is way outside the preferred range of 3.6-6.8 with 5.2 being the level advisable. We set a target of 6.2 by the time of my return visit in early January and I was given a general diet sheet to show me what foods to avoid and what to eat. I was glad that I had those tests as it allowed me to raise with Diana the question of us having more suitable foods so that we immediately decided to have more fish and semi-skimmed milk for example.

A coffee (de-caffeinated, no cream!) at Brackenbury's to steady ourselves and then Diana dropped me home whilst she did the shopping in St Neots. I worked for the rest of the day on a plan of election resources within the St Neots area and then typed up a report of the election planning meeting from Saturday and an agenda ready for tomorrow. Whilst doing this, I made and received many calls from others preparing for the same thing. This took me until quite late and I was glad to go to bed in the end.
