The day in Brighton shopping, visiting Palace Pier and The Aquarium from which the two dolphins Silver and Missy had been released a year ago with no confirmed sightings thereafter.
The wind blew and the rain really poured this afternoon, and we went an watched a long soppy love story for Diana’s benefit. The news is full of the political election row after the Labour Party highlighted the plight of a young girl having to wait for an ear operation
We were awake at 7.00am with Diana making the morning drinks in the room but we all lay in and took turns in the two bathrooms and so it was 8.45am by the time we were ready for breakfast. The Grand serve a very good breakfast but I was fast reverting to over-eating because of the range of good food available. Tried to walk off this excess by walking around the shops, helping to keep Deborah and Della happy as Di did some serious shopping. Pleased for the rest by the time we had morning coffee and then I struck out on my own and visited the Palace Pier, The Lanes and the Old Steine tourist information office.

We rendezvoused at the Pizza Hut and even Debbie managed to find this after going off on her own. After lunch, we visited Brighton Aquarium and were intrigued by the exhibits and, in particular, the Ray poking their flat noses above water before their mid-afternoon feeding time. The Dolphins are now gone from here, having been released back into the wild a year ago, and it was coincidental that there was news in the papers of the two, Silver and Missy, being sighted in poor health this week having failed to adapt properly to their new freedom for lack of experience in feeding themselves.
The wind blew and the rain really poured this afternoon, and we were glad to hole up at a cafe for a while afterwards before returning to the hotel to rest and relax before dinner. We booked an early table so as to be able to go out and watch a nice long soppy love story afterwards and this was in deference to Diana after yesterday's choice. The news is full of the political election row after the Labour Party highlighted the plight of a young girl having to wait for an ear operation and then the actual identity of the girl getting into the newspapers. Both main parties accused the other of leaking the girls name and family and the whole election campaign has been overshadowed by the accusations.
