It was a gloriously sunny and warm Norfolk autumn day, even though the lack of wind meant that it started and ended misty and foggy. I could get the cover off of my wood pile and get the cladding drying again but, apart from a few other chores, I spent all of today's daylight hours staining the roof timbers again. I fitted the next fluorescent light and transferred the planks this morning and had just about finished the third bay by the end of the day

I drove into Norwich this evening, hoping to get a circular saw but I found B & Q so inefficient that I had to leave there without one. They lock up all of their power tools in glass cabinets and then have nobody easily available to help the customer choose and buy one. I collected a fine Chinese take-a-away meal in the city and enjoyed eating it when I got back. I was dropping off to sleep afterwards as I lay in the bath and could hardly keep my eyes open as I wrote today's journal entry. I heard from Nigel today who telephoned me to suggest that I consider buying my own gun for the shooting trip.
