Debbie and I walked Sam across St Neots Common
Debbie and I walked Sam across St Neots Common

Mammoth paperwork day as we assessed another driver’s damage to Di's car. Recovering both physically and organisationally from our time in America with Debbie and Daniel helping me with walking Sam whilst also starting to enjoy Easter treats.

It has evidently been quite chilly for the last two weeks and now has become wet again so at least I have not missed much boating weather this spring

We were still recovering both physically and organisationally from our time in America and the night did not pass without incident. I awoke around 2.00am and woke up for a couple of hours to make myself a drink and read the paper so as to be soon back to sleep again. Diana had more trouble, being awake from the early hours onwards but the girls achieved their first full night's sleep since getting back. The dog waited patiently until I got to him with his food and drink at 9.15am and behaved himself quite well when Debbie and I walked him across St Neots Common. I needed a rest once I had returned from dog-walking, but the family did not give me much of one.

Della had prepared an "Easter Friday Table" of flowers from the garden, candles, gifts and some advanced Easter Egg and we made a thing of it for our morning coffee break. Later, after sorting out some things for Diana, I settled down to my desk work and had volumes of mail, bills and financial statements to deal with. Di had gone shopping and was late returning with the bad news that a lady driving a Granada had driven into the side of her Fiesta in the Waitrose Car Park whilst she was inside. Luckily, a couple saw the incident and took the car's number but then, upon going to the police station, Diana realised that she had been so silly as to not take details of the witnesses.

When the driver was confronted later, she denied doing the damage and so I had to leave her the weekend to think on it upon threat of pressing charges for criminal damage as well as restitution if she would not agree to pay for the damage of her own accord. A rush to get the rest of my paperwork done by the end of the afternoon and then to pluck and prepare yesterday's collared doves for today’s tea. Also had to walk the dog in what had become torrential rain.

Many deep puddles and much surface water everywhere from the night and day's rain and so starts the Easter Holiday for many people. It has evidently been quite chilly for the last two weeks and now has become wet again so at least I have not missed much boating weather this spring. Today's journal after drying Sam off and eating tea, a bath and hair wash and then off to see Nigel for a game of snooker and a chat about our mutual misfortunes.
