A sunny and warm day turning wet later as we continued to debate which car to have next. We loaded up the girls and drove from Paxton to Horning via Cambridge Land Rovers.
The England football team just manage to salvage a draw from a poor performance against Poland
I had a poor night. The problem is that I am very undecided about what type of car to get next. Di's misgivings about the Discovery did not help overcome my own and so we went to have a second look on the way to Norfolk. It was a finer and warmer day than of late and I took Sam for a late walk after seeing Debbie off at the bus stop for her speech day morning. Della had her friend Katie Morris (from Hail Weston) to stay the night and so she was quite tired and fretful, but her little friend was quite good company. Some telephone calls to action the sale of the Rolls Royce which ended up with me arranging for Lancasters of Northampton to collect the car next Tuesday getting access via gardener Bill. By the end of the morning I had done all of the chores and got the Range Rover fully loaded up.

By the time Debbie got back from school speech day and we had all of our family, our luggage and the dog on board; the car was very full. Unfortunately, with the weather being warm and sunny, it was quite uncomfortable in the car for both us and Sam and he kept on trying to come forward into the passenger compartment. In our new car we shall have to have a proper dog guard or a cage for him. Our visit to Marshalls of Cambridge left us quite as confused as ever. Diana felt that the Discovery was all right, but she really wanted another Range Rover. The LSE was agreed as being too expensive, but we had a look at some other second-hand Range Rovers they had but they were still £22-24,000 a year or two old with 25,000 miles already done. The same specification of Discovery (excluding automatic) with only 800 for less than £20,000 still seemed very good value to me but will we miss the load-carrying capacity?
We agreed to leave it again and continued off to Norfolk, finding the roads crammed with holiday and Mildenhall Air Show traffic and the restaurants even busier. We ate late at nearly 4.00pm and then arrived in Horning in early evening. I took Sam for a walk after a feed whilst Diana unpacked with the help(!) of the girls. Later on, I mowed the lawn, Diana cleaned up my dad's old car and then I relaxed in front of the TV, watching the England football team just manage to salvage a draw from a poor performance against Poland. It was a warm evening but then the rain came later as we settled down inside.
