To the London Hilton hotel after cleaning the car in Paxton and hosting Daniel’s friends from U.E.A plus Gary for lunch on the eve of Diana's Birthday. Then by taxi to Tottenham Court Road/St Giles Circus for a meal before our theatre performance of "Grease"
There was no time to spare today as we had just the morning to prepare for our celebratory trip to London. A little lay in as I was so tired and then out with Sam after breakfast for a good run. Then not much time to clean out the car. I had to tidy and then vacuum the inside before I could sponge the outside with shampoo, rinse off with a hose and then leather the bodywork. It had looked just like a rally car, covered in mud, but returned to its new self and suitable for a family trip to London.

I could have used Daniel's help in cleaning the car, but he was nowhere to be seen before arriving for lunch with four friends and expecting them all to be fed! I still took them all to have a meal with us at A.J.'s. Daniel had three of his friends from U.E.A. that had shared a flat with him and Gary Skinner as well. One of these friends, Simon, has come to settle in Eynesbury with his girlfriend (a close friend of Dawn) and is quite close at hand. The journey to London afterwards with Diana and the girls went well and there was a place for our car in the car park of The London Hilton hotel, opposite Lords Cricket Ground.
The customary hassle over the booking when registering which is always annoying. This time they had us down for two separate rooms when our booking details showed quite clearly that it was a quadruple occupancy room that we had ordered. The room was all right in the end but there was no swimming pool as promised and so we all rested; me watching the Great Britain Rugby League team beat the Kiwis well in a televised match. In good time we took a taxi to Tottenham Court Road/St Giles Circus as there were no underground stations nearby.
A full hour to have a meal before our theatre performance of "Grease" and we needed it as the Pizzaland place seemed to lose our order and handle it out of sequence as we only just got the food in time. The family enjoyed the production as they knew the plot and words by heart, but I found the background music loud and the singing soft and weak so had trouble following it. Even so, I appreciated the colour and verve. Back to the hotel late and the start of a good night's sleep.
