Some time making breakfast for the family myself after Diana had complained about me ‘making her ill’ over the whole barn dance row and threatening to leave me, which she easily could before Daniel cycled off to see Steve and the rest of us had a fine roast chicken dinner on the best silver and china. The rest of the day sorting out Bill’s Shed and my other sheds and then relaxing with TV hearing that US/USSR relations are deteriorating, the South African Dutch Reformed Church is debating Apartheid as their government resumes eviction plans for the black townships causing another outcry
Went to bed last night and had some very bitter words from Diana before we went to sleep. She accused me of making her ill over the barn dance and said she would leave me if she had access to her money (which she has, as it is in her name!). Some time talking and then both eventually to sleep. A lay in, after a warm and restless night and Di only brought the morning drink at 8.30am. Up to shower and shave and then Daniel came up whilst I was dressing (and then Deb and Della) to say that Di had yet to start breakfast. Once dressed, I went down and cooked the fried breakfast. Egg for Della, egg and bacon for Debbie, and egg, bacon and bread and lastly all of those plus mushrooms and tomato for me. Di just had toast and ‘marmite’.

Diana still ill and now not wanting to go to the Barn dance on a day when I had to undertake the shopping and meals as well as attending to the post-installation defects in my driveway and show lots of people around my riverside lawn landscaping . HM The Queen completes her historic visit to China with Prince Phillip’s ‘slitty eyes’ gaffe forgotten or, at least, overlooked.
Awoke early to tea from Di, on a morning where each week Daniel has to be earlier to leave for school. There is no Kimbolton School bus from Little Paxton and Dan has to walk to St Neots on Saturdays. I got dressed in my old clothes and, after breakfast, went out to start moving stray tools from the inner garage to the riverside workshops. Whilst doing this, I found my pliers and offered to help Diana put on a new ironing board cover – what a job it was – as the cover was not the correct one for the board and we only accomplished it after a 1 ½ hour struggle. Could not do much for lack of energy and so changed to take the girls to town to meet Daniel from his school bus and do some essential shopping.

Diana’s Birthday – Diana recovers on a cold and frosty day and after receiving her birthday bouquet whilst I continue feeding the family and seeing Debbie’s improved horse-riding at the stables, trotting and cantering without hanging on. UK inflation is now on the way up again and sterling falls, Barcelona are awarded the 1992 Olympic Games and student demonstrators prevent Enoch Powell speaking at Bristol University
Slept well, reconciled with Diana on a cold and frosty night and Di got the morning drinks. I got showered, shaved and dressed, as the children really taxed Di’s patience and woke Della up to join in the den. Di took to her bed again and I had to help get the children to school again. Urged Daniel out, to get him out of the way, and then got Debbie across the road to join Pat and Amie. Joan soon arrived and took over Della, so that I could get down to some paperwork in the office. I sent letters to all and sundry on my financial affairs and took phone calls from Lifesure and Marshalls to organise the collection of our new Range Rover next Tuesday.

A sunny and warm day after a frosty start that found Diana too ill to look after the family until I agreed to go to the Little Paxton School Association Barn dance and so I was looking after Della and getting the children and off to school as well as I fulfilled an appointment with my architect until Di’s mother Norma arrived later. Once Diana had recovered and we had a bread and jam tea I was able to carry on laying out the new lawn boundaries with Daniel. A serious London train crash but no recognition from Chancellor Lawson of the Uk economic crisis and now the Russians are dismissing the prospect of an arms deal without Star Wars being included
A continued disagreement with Diana late last night over the plans she had made for us to go to the Little Paxton School Association barn dance. I refused to go, after many attempts to talk her out of it and she stomped off to the box room again in a huff. A rather restless night as a result and was awoken by Di this morning, who told me she was feeling sick and ill and that I had to get the children off to school. A quick wash and shave,, to save time and then Daniel and Deborah helped me to prepare a breakfast of toast. Then I got Della up and dressed, after a fashion, before realising it was time to get Debbie out to school. Only just managed to catch Pat Law, so that she could take Debbie along with her friend Amie.
