Day riding just about all of the attractions in Disneyland after an early start and breakfast at Coco’s and then watching the two Main Street parades. Deng Xiaoping, the Premier of China. Retires, the New York Marathon was won by a male Kenyan and a British woman and a home message from Mr Roberts of Mill House offering history help
Slept well enough in our ‘Western time zone’ routine and then the family were awake at about 5.00am (1.00pm in England!). Plenty of time to get showered, washed and dressed and then to read a little from the backlog of papers and books that we have bought. Pleased to see that the weather was dry outside this morning. In fact, the day turned out sunny for most of the time, but there were a couple of showers later. Drove to our Coco’s restaurant for breakfast and noted on the way that Disneyland was open at 9.00am today. Was back in the Disneyland car park in time for the early start and we spent the day riding on just about every attraction.
Being Sunday, we could also see two Main Street parades in aid of the current Disney celebration – The Disney Fair, a sort of country fete and harvest festival rolled into one. We came back to the hotel at 6.30pm and then we followed the children into bed after 7.00pm. The world news today was the resignation/retirement of Deng Xiaoping, the Premier of China since the modern years of enlightenment. The New York marathon took place today, with a Kenyan called Ibrahim Hussein winning as the first non-Italian to do so in several years. Also a British woman, Priscilla Welsh, over 40 years of age, won the women’s race at the same time. Not much other news available from these US TV programmes on a Sunday that was of anything but local and domestic interest. I phoned home and interrogated my answering system. There were several messages on it, including a message from Mr Roberts of Mill House, near the Paper Mills, who is interested in my history project and invites contact and cooperation.
