Cleaning the cars today and remonstrating with my neighbour whose cars were blocking the Willow Close turning spaces after Debbie has Amy to stay the night and before we take a trip to the garden centre with just a few election chores undertaken today. The Kuwait hijack continues with twelve terrorists now armed with machine guns threatening the rest of the hostages and a Pakistani ammunition dump blows up raining down rockets and shells on Islamabad, the capital, for an hour killing some 60 people and injuring 800 others
Awoke quite early this morning and kicked Diana out of bed to make the morning tea. Then showered and dressed so as to be in good time for a nice fried breakfast. Debbie had Amy to stay the night and they were up early, running around the house, before Debbie tripped and hurt her knee. After breakfast, I got out the Range Rover and Rolls Royce and proceeded to vacuum clean the inside of both of them. The Rolls took the time, as the black carpet and seats attracts the bits. I adjusted the front seat belt brackets to keep the belts out of the way and then took out the battery from the boot and cleaned it up.
It had been loosely secured and dripping acid, which was worrying. I had a little problem with Ken Eaton today. He was going out for the day and left his drive empty and two cars in the turning space and refused to move one! Washed the Range Rover and Rolls this morning, then, after a nice roast beef lunch, I took Di to the Willington Garden Centre to buy Toplawn and look round. Home to do a few election chores. To 1 Gordon Close, where I completed a proxy form for an absentee voter, then Lakefield Avenue, to talk a doubtful couple into supporting me. Then on to Southoe for another interview with Jack Ramply. This evening I polished the Range Rover. The news tonight is of the hijacked airliner, held by 12 men armed with machine guns, where there have been a series of threats to the hostages to try to secure fuel. One passenger is already dead and another is feared being tortured. The hijackers threaten to kill the passengers if the aircraft is stormed and their compatriots back in the Lebanon threaten to kill two long-term hostages upon the same eventuality. 60 people have been killed and 800 injured, as an ammunition dump blew up in Pakistan, raining down rockets and shells on Islamabad, the capital, for an hour. A fire started the disaster and sabotage cannot be ruled out. Today was fine, mild and sunny, and tomorrow is forecast to be the same.
