After a hasty departure from our chalet, we viewed Bure Cottages and started to negotiate the purchase of one of them, subject to some boundary changes. We also reviewed one of Moore’s luxury craft before leaving and stopping at my Mum and Dad’s place in Stanton. Home later, after a Little Chef tea, to find lots of things needing doing at The Hayling View. The Chinese authorities suppress the student demonstrations by shooting indiscriminately and killing many tens of Chinese students in Tiananmen Square.
We experienced another rather close night under the unnatural duvet and then had the rush to pack all of our belongings and vacate the chalet (which was number 38 of the Peninsula) by 9 AM. The boys seemed to survive the night on dry land quite well and we all packed up with only the customary amount of disorganisation and recrimination. I then viewed numbers 4 and 6 Bure Cottages and embarked upon negotiations for the purchase of the Admiral’s cottage, number 6. They wanted hundred and £70,000; I offered £160,000 and we settled on hundred and £65,000 but my agreement was subject to some boundary changes back in front which I hope they can accommodate. We also looked at one of the Moore’s luxury craft this morning and Di seems set on it.

We stayed so long discussing things that we ended up having lunch in Wroxham and then stopped at my Mum and Dad’s place in Stanton for afternoon tea on the way back. I wanted to talk to them about whether they might wish to spend some time there at Wroxham and they leapt at the chance which only encourage me further to complete the deal. On towards home, but only after a late stop at the Little Chef for tea. This evening, I returned all manner of phone calls and tried to tend my conservatory plants. The fish seem okay, though the water is quite green in the sand filter was clogged. The problem is that my plants were scorched by lack of shade and less than perfect watering by Pete. Still, I cannot be too critical as the plants will be tricky and hot weather until the sunshades are fitted. Back to our normal routine again. The news tonight is of the Chinese authorities suppressing the student demonstrations for democracy. Tanks and troops entered Tiananmen Square and shot indiscriminately, killing tens or hundreds of Chinese students. Pressure builds up for action against Rottweilers dogs and other savage breeds but still the government refused to consider the re-introduction of dog licences or registration.
