Della was organised, and Daniel and Angela visited later, but Debbie struggled to recognise Mothers Day until I helped. I was preoccupied with Election FOCUS work and had a visitor accordingly but relaxed watching some televised sport later after all the recent stress and excitement before having an early night.
Large holiday company International Leisure together with its airline (the largest private one), has gone into Administration and, after the Ribble Valley defeat, the Tory government are being pressed for an early decision on the Poll Tax.
A little lay in this morning as Diana may have been hoping for me to go and get the drinks but I was still asleep. She cooked breakfast for us and was rather glum waiting for us to recognise the day. Debbie was first to realise and she tried to hide the fact that she did not have a card. This morning, I did some more work on the election FOCUS as Judi O'Callaghan came here to type in all the Eaton Socon copy on to the Amstrad computer. Time was beginning to fly by and our deadline of next Tuesday morning was not going to leave enough time without a lot of late working. A nice lunch as Judi worked on and then she eventually left at about 4.00pm and I rested by going to watch some TV sport for a little while. I saw Spurs beat a second division team by a goal from Gascoigne which was quite exiting. To our surprise, Daniel and Angela then arrived and joined us for tea in the lounge as we watched the Antiques Roadshow. They had just driven down from her family's place in Cheshire. After this, they went off out to the cinema with Daniel's friends before setting off for Norwich and I returned to my computer lay-out of election copy for the rest of the evening.
Later, I turned in around 10.00pm, being dog-tired and needing my sleep after all of this activity. The weather had turned milder, but my sore throat had now turned into a cold. The political headlines are those relating to the collapse of the International Leisure Group - the second largest holiday company which, together with its airline (the largest private one), has gone into Administration. Why, the customers are asking, when the government knew that the company was in trouble, were passengers and agents not told? The ripples are still spreading after the Tories Ribble Valley defeat and the government is being pressed for an early decision on the Poll Tax.
