The trip to Cambridge with Diana this morning for coffee with her much-improved parents after first briefing the gardener and builder about work to do around the swimming pool in our absence now the pool-room shower and urinal were both working well. The walk over to the Grafton Centre for some shopping and then lunch of soup and salad in the Arts Theatre Restaurant and then home.
At last visiting Steven Bloom and reviewing Heronshaw with him and then agreeing that we should make an urgent visit to Horning to mark out the boat-shed and dyke. He was getting nowhere with the plans and was full of good intentions but seldom able to fulfil them which I think is part of the reason for him being out of work.
Off this evening to a Village Hall Meeting which went quite well, although I found myself having to do far too much of the talking.
I decided to join Diana for a shopping trip to Cambridge this morning but, before we could go, there were a few things to attend to. I had to complete my preparations, talk to the gardener and then see the builder started on the task of filling the large hole in the ground by the swimming pool. He had done this by the time we had returned and made a good job of cementing back the crazy paving stones smoothly for the swimmers' feet. Now, the pool-room shower and urinal are both working well and only the cosmetic work remains to be done. An uneventful drive to Cambridge and then our normal coffee with Di's parents. Norma is looking and sounding a lot better as she recovers from her cold, but we now hear that they are having to look after the children for a whole weekend whilst Charlie and Chrisula have a week-end in Brighton!

Di and I walked briskly over to the Grafton Centre in which I managed to get most of the electrical components that I required, and Diana successfully exchanged some children's jeans in Debenhams. Lunch of soup and salad in the Arts Theatre Restaurant and then home. Some time this afternoon visiting Steven Bloom and reviewing Heronshaw with him and then agreeing that we should make an urgent visit to Horning to mark out the boat-shed and dyke. I then had to drop by Cosy Corner to hire a "level and square" surveying instrument for us to use. Off this evening to a Village Hall Meeting which went quite well, although I found myself having to do far too much of the talking.
Then over to see Steven again, who I had left to get on with drawing up our site plans on computer but I found that he was getting nowhere which was a problem. Steve is full of good intentions but seldom able to fulfil them which I think is part of the reason for him being out of work. At least he has passed the most difficult part of his Yachtmaster examinations, which was his good news. Home late to bed and a little restless at the way things are going at the moment.
