Monitoring the piling of the Quay Heading at Heronshaw and hearing of the sudden death of Mrs Shinn, two doors up. Then back to St Neots to attend the LibDem HDC Group meeting by invitation but not staying very long for the St Neots Town Council equivalent. Home to settle Della down to sleep after Di had already turned in
I slept very soundly and comfortably in my Heronshaw sleeping bag and was very slow to emerge on what proved to be a very cold start to the day. The contractors arrived with me still in bed, but I still brought my breakfast back to bed and finished having a shave and bath before going out. They needed no instructions for me and were soon back at work. Their technique used was to erect the cross rail at the full height of the quay-heading and then to offer the frontage planks up one at a time by pushing them down with the single-angled tip acting so as to drive the plank against its neighbour.

Catching up on my journal until lunchtime for which I took the family to the Southoe Little Chef. Then on in two cars to Redgrave, visiting Mum with Daniel & Angela where we collected Dad’s old car on loan for Daniel.
To bed in Heronshaw after settling in, reading a book on wherries. Amis & Co had completed about one side of the boat dock and were getting on well and doing a good job with stout timber.
I was awake quite early this morning and, Diana opting for a lay in, I crept downstairs and started the long task of typing up this last week's journal. This took me right up until lunchtime, though it was nice to see Daniel and Angela for a combined family breakfast and to play with the other early riser - Della - to whom I taught some new knots to and got tied up in the process! Debbie went off on her roller skates to visit all of the people that had sponsored her walk and collected most of the money, a total of £48.20! Then the chores outside after which I took the entire family out to lunch at the Southoe Little Chef, which saved Diana the trouble.

Making arrangements for Daniel & Angela to come home, by collecting them off of the train at Ely, and trying to find them a car before hosting my successor John Brown for some case work. Then, more restfully, taking Diana out to the cinema in Bedford tonight to watch "The Hand that Rocks the Cradle", a dramatic suspense film. Della's friend Katherine had what appeared to be another epileptic fit and was taken to Holly Ward, Hinchingbrooke this morning
After I had cheered Diana up a bit this morning and rubbed her tummy (as it was hurting with a bad period), I then telephoned Daniel an Angela and helped them make some arrangements to come home. They were to catch the train to Ely and we were to collect them there. I also called Mum and talked over with her the question of Daniel borrowing the car and, after resolving some insurance questions, this she was pleased to do as his lack of a car would be affecting his concentration for his forthcoming exams. Di then went to collect him and Angela from the train in Ely and I did the garden chores.

The post-election clearing up and muddle and then a doctor’s appointment for a blood test and then trying to sort out Daniel's car problem. To bed very tired and rather grumpy very much needing the rest.
I slept well for what was left of the night and then got up and pinned the results slips onto my own posters on the trees in the riverside garden. The chores; and then I had to get to the doctors at Cedar House for a blood test which remains a continuing concern over my cholesterol level. After this, I toured around in the car and found that the rest of the poster-boards had been pasted with results all right before coming home to try clearing up my office. Later, I captured the Eaton Socon data file and consolidated it with that of my own, but John Davidson remained reluctant to get his copied for me and so I had to break off my objective of consolidating and re-distributing them all.
