Visit home for the week-end on a really nice warm and sunny start to the day and I dropped by Daniel's new shared house, Philadelphia Lane, to collect his new keys for him.
Home in good time to take the family out to The Happy Eater for a nice lunch and then, after tea, I took Diana back to Bedford to see the film "Patriot Games"
I awoke late to find a really nice warm and sunny start to the day outside; just as I was having to go back! There followed something of a rush to get breakfast and pack up to go but first I had to repair my offside driving mirror that I had broken off getting into the garage last night. It turned out easier than I thought to make this repair, as I could re-fix the mirror from the outside without it noticing, and so I was soon on my way to Norwich. My trusty Jarrolds street map showed that the site of Daniel's new shared house, Philadelphia Lane, was not too far out of my way and so I found it easy to drop in and collect his new keys for him. Then another call at the Brolac Decorator's Centre in the city for some more wood-stain and Poly-filla and I was on my way home.

Working inside staining the boathouse woodwork on another pouring wet day as two merry Welsh brothers and Broadland Motors mechanics delivered my Range Rover back late this afternoon, the vehicle having passed its latest MOT, had its engine Krypton-tuned and the car serviced generally.
A personal statement from resigning Heritage Minister, David Mellor, whose preference for actresses and willingness to accept free holidays has brought his downfall.
It rained for just about the whole day, clearing up for a short while this evening. Although I could work under cover and had plenty to do, the chilly rain and dark light puts a real dampener on the spirits, and I look forward to seeing some sunshine again. I had a good day, even though I felt a little jaundiced from tiredness at the end of it. I was up early and out working at 8.00am darting across to the new Harnser boathouse to escape an early wetting. I had completed the staining of the first bay yesterday and I was trying to complete the second one today. The over-riding priority is to get the scaffold planks back to the hirer as they must be costing a fortune so far. It took me until a late morning break to secure and connect up a fluorescent light and move all of the planks into position in the second bay to give a safe working platform.

The Range Rover breakdown keeps me from the Boat Auction but enables me to staining the remainder of the first main bay of the open boathouse and then, this evening after dark, fitting the three door linings.
The Houses of Parliament met today to discuss the currency crisis and the government could put forward no new economic policy to replace their former idol of fixed exchange rates.
I was up early and prepared to go to Potter Heigham on another cool and wet morning, donning my boating waterproofs to get some auction bargains as the soft-hearted stayed away. Unhappily, the Range Rover refused to start, barely firing and sounding very sick even though I turned over the starter motor for ages and kept charging the battery to try again. I had to give up any thought of going in the end and telephoned Broadland Motors about putting it in for an emergency service. They came and collected it after lunch when I just managed to start the engine, but it sounded very ragged and in need of some attention.

Di returns home to a flooded areas after we had a productive day working out the kitchen tiling plan and fitting the wall units and hob hood extractor. Lunch at "The Old Tea Shoppe" in Horning and enjoyed their home-made carrot and parsnip soup before Di left for home.
Speculators declared war on the French Franc today but ran into the combined might of the French and German central banks combined with an increase in French interest rates.
We had settled down together in my sleeping bag for the night but Diana found my bed a bit uncomfortable and ended up on the bed chair in the lounge. However, we both slept well and then somewhat overslept. I made the morning drinks and breakfast and then went out to start work on the new boat-shed kitchen as Diana was due to work with me. She worked out the tiling plan and estimated the quantities for the kitchen and bathroom whilst I used her occasional help as I modified one of the wall units and fitted the hob extractor to its electricity supply and outside ventilation duct.
